Jorge’s parents are both immigrants from Ecuador. Like many other immigrants they arrived in search of better economic opportunity. Jorge was born and raised in the Bronx. During his adolescence he became aware of the inequalities in his community. What particularly struck him was the unsafety for kids growing up in communities similar to his. Jorge wants to tackle the causes for crime in neighborhoods throughout the Bronx. It was through this passion and his love for soccer that he became involved in the Saturday Night Lights in New York, eventually becoming a leader and coach. Jorge would like to attend law school to study criminal law.
